Celebration on my cousin Graduation

The graduation had ended, the heavy black gowns were packed away in closets, and the formal diplomas were safely tucked into their leather folders. For months, the entire family had been talking about this milestone. College graduation wasn’t just a win for the graduate; it was a hard-earned victory for the whole clan who had cheered, supported, and stayed up late through all those grueling semesters.

To celebrate, a standard restaurant dinner simply wouldn’t do. The family wanted something real, grounded, and completely refreshing. The plan was set: a two-part celebration that started with a wild, joyful day trip to Magoli River and ended with a massive, home-cooked feast at the graduate’s house.

The morning after the ceremony, the alarm clocks rang early, but nobody complained. The trunk of the vehicle was packed to the brim with marinated meats for grilling, extra clothes, and a few giant black salbabidas (inner tubes).

When they arrived at Magoli, the scenery felt like a reward in itself. Towering, lush green mountains framed the horizon, standing tall beneath a wide blue sky filled with bright, dramatic clouds. The air was fresh, and the river stretched out clear and cool, bordered by a wide bank of smooth gray river stones. It was the perfect place to wash away years of academic stress.

Before everyone scrambled into the water, they gathered on the rocky shore for a proper family portrait to mark the occasion. In the frame the family lined up shoulder-to-shoulder, smiling wide against the majestic backdrop. But a serious family photo never lasts long. Right before the camera clicked, one of the boys collapsed playfully onto the rocks in front, lounging in a bright orange life jacket next to a giant inner tube, striking a hilarious pose that made everyone break character and laugh.

They spent the rest of the day floating down the currents, splashing each other, and sharing grilled food on the riverbank. The laughter echoed off the mountain walls, creating a memory far louder than the applause at the graduation arena.

As the sun began to dip behind the hills, painting the sky in warmer tones, they packed up their damp towels and headed back to the graduate’s house. The celebration shifted from the wild outdoors to the cozy warmth of home. The tables were piled high with classic celebratory dishes, music filled the living room, and a homemade “Congratulations!” banner hung proudly on the wall. Surrounded by aunts, uncles, and cousins, the new graduate listened to stories of the past, received heartfelt blessings for the future, and realized that no matter how far their career took them, this was the village they would always come home to.
